Survival Training Instructor

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and assist in defining the systematic processes and procedures as well as establishing standardized policy affecting goals at the RSAF Survival Training Center (STC) through published RSAF Training Manuals and directives.
- Prepare Course Training Charts, Course Training Standards, Course Syllabi, Test Measurement Instruments, and other applicable course training documents.
- Present academic lectures to aircrew members attending courses at RSAF STC.
- Present laboratory sessions to aircrew members attending courses at RSAF STC.
- Perform additional maintenance duties in support of daily operations of the STC.
- Operate motorboats, perform parasailing and parachuting duties for STC courses.
- Accompany aircrews to remote field training areas and present course material for practical application of those skills taught in STC courses. (Five (5) day/Four (4) night field exercise).
- Prepare individual aircrew grade records and trainee files, and enter into STC computer.
- Counsel RSAF aircrew officers as necessary, within the small group phase of survival training, to effect positive performance.
- Present course content and perform duties associated with Life in Captivity Training Laboratory.
- Administer final STC examination prior to aircrew member graduation from the SRC, and document results.
- Administer emergency first-aid treatment to STC attending RSAF personnel in the event of accident and/or injury incurred while engaged in the STC curriculum.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Education: A relevant degree from a recognized university and/or a formal military or civilian qualification in Training Development, Training Technology, or Instructional Systems Development; Completion of United States Air Force (USAF) Basic Survival Training Course (S-V81-A); Extensive knowledge of Military Training Systems; Completion of USAF Professional Military Education Course; and proficiency in the use and operation of personal computers.
- At least two (2) years experience in the last five (5) years as a Survival Training Instructor.
- At least four (4) years experience in the application of survival principles and techniques, and use of post egress USAF life support equipment.
- At least one (1) year experience in the preparation, planning, and presentation of academic lectures, and the assimilation of associated Course Control Documents, Course Curriculum Documents, and Test measurement Instruments.
- Practical instructor experience in a Life in Captivity Laboratory training scenario (mock POW camp) atmosphere for Large Group Organization and Resistance for Prisoners of War.
- Complete knowledge of all water and desert survival training procedures, operational expertise, and hazard experience relative to specific geographical exercise areas.
- Practical experience in the operation of large motorboats and expert knowledge and experience in the operation of Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment.
- Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
