Structural Specialist
Summary:
The primary function of the KAAB-AES contractor structural specialist is to assist the KAAB-AES engineers in training RSAF engineers in structural damage assessment and repair. Also to support the PDM/MSIP team in appropriate areas of aircraft structural problems and to assist AES engineers with RSAF maintenance type repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technical writing, data-base management on computers, correspondence with other RSAF F-15 bases in structural repairs, TCTO incorporation and depot modifications; coordinate with various organizations such as Maintenance, Supply, Logistics, USAF, Contractor, and RSAF HQ; prepare repair drawings and procedures as devised by AES engineers and assist in their implementation.
- The Structural Specialist will be required to perform various duties in support of AES engineers in areas related to the practical side of structural repair. These will include:
- Classroom, in-shop and on-the-job training in aircraft structure repair and shop techniques.
- Monitor and supervise aircraft structural repairs as directed by AES engineers.
- Prepare drawings, repair procedures, documents and other communications related to AES tasks.
- Support PDM/MSIP AES support effort to relieve excessive load on AES engineers to the extent of his ability.
- Provide instruction on supply procedures covering the requisitioning, local purchase, local manufacture, receipt, stock control, storage, issue, transportation and accounting for supplies and equipment.
- Provide instruction on preparation, distribution and completion of supply documents and the appropriate accounting procedures.
- Provide instruction on methods of storing, handling, receiving, issuing and accounting of hazardous property.
- Provide instruction on control and use of mechanical handling equipment.
- Prevention of deterioration in stock.
- Calculation of stock control levels and use of provisioning factors.
- Inspection and inventory of stock.
- Control of and accounting for mobility kits and war reserve items.
- RSAF accounting procedures and storage regulation.
- Preparation of Training Documentation including Course Control Documents, Student Study Guides, Lesson Plans etc.
- Design, develop and conduct Advanced Supply courses for RSAF personnel at Skill level 5 or above.
- Design, develop and conduct Professional Development courses to prepare RSAF Supply personnel for management positions.
- Provide Qualification Training for newly assigned instructors.
- Act as Curriculum Specialist when required.
- Prepare and maintain training / trainee documentation.
- Supervision of Student practical work and ensuring that safety precautions are observed.
- Maintaining a Safe Custody Register.
- Conduct general technical courses not restricted to specific Weapon Systems.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Aircraft Maintenance/Management or degree in another field with sufficient equivalent experience in related fields.
- Must possess good skills in communication, knowledge and use of PC computer in word processing and data-base management.
- Five (5) or more years of practical experience in aircraft structural repair, fabrication and assembly; knowledge of USAF Technical Order (TO) system; ability to prepare and interpret blueprints and maintenance repair procedures.
