Structural Engineer
U.S. citizenship is required.
Summary:
Conducts engineering tasks at a high skill level in the field of aircraft structures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and assist the RSAF in resolving problems related to structural integrity.
- Evaluates structural repairs, modifications, and configuration changes proposed and / or planned.
- Provide engineering evaluation reports to aid in accident investigation.
- Establish and monitor a corrosion evaluation and control program.
- Design and analyze structural repairs in cases where the damage exceeds technical order limits.
- Reviews aircraft usage, fatigue expenditures / damages tolerance reports (SAFE REPORTS) as it affects service life of the aircraft.
- Investigates and recommend action to Material Review Board.
- Prepare plans, work statements, estimates and schedules for the RSAF structural engineering training program.
- Provides guidance and instruction to other engineers in the fields of stress analysis and aircraft structural repair.
- Organizes and conducts informal and OJT.
- Recommends additional formal training to enhance the engineering capabilities of other engineers.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a college level course of study (B.S. Degree) in Mechanical Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering.
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in the field of airframe structural maintenance.
- Should have computer experience on word processing and database usage.
- Must demonstrate competence in / and knowledge of the following...
- Structural configuration of military aircraft.
- Problems and corresponding solution related to the materials, processes, corrosion, and fatigue of aircraft structure.
- Analysis and design structural repairs for damage exceeding technical order limits.
- Materials, processes and methods of design and analysis commonly used in aircraft structures.
- Fatigue management / damage tolerance assessment and force structural management.
- Military and industry standards for hardware, materials and processes used in the manufacture of airframes
- Also some ability to convert between U.S., British, and European hardware, materials and process standards.
- Criteria used in the design of aircraft structures.
- Drawing systems used in U.S, British, and Europe.
- U.S., British and European T.O and Manual Systems.
