Quality Assurance Department Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Repair Division Superintendent is responsible for all ship and shop work for ships and craft assigned to the SRF for repair, maintenance, overhaul, alteration, or conversion, and for special projects as assigned. The incumbent schedules, coordinates, supervises, and provides administrative control for all shipboard and shop work activities of the Ship Repair Facility for naval vessels, craft, and other authorized work assigned. He is responsible for the management and performance of the Repair Division and ensures that authorized work is completed in compliance with published schedules, while using established technical procedures and safety standards.
The incumbent is authorized to maintain liaison with all department, US Navy and contractor personnel in SRF necessary to fulfill his duties and responsibilities.
The incumbent may be required to assume the responsibilities of the Production Department Manager in his absence. The incumbent will impart to RSNF designated personnel the unique characteristics of the position.
Education:
A Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
Experience:
- Twelve (12) years experience in marine repair at a shipyard repair facility with extensive technical experience in the planning, coordinating, and supervision of marine repairs
- Positions of increasing responsibility are required, and five (5) years shall have been in a supervisory position at division or department head including management of projects or organizations involving multiple disciplines related to production, planning, budgeting, resource allocation, workload forecasting and personnel administration
- Two (2) years Navy shipboard experience as division officer/department head is required
- Incumbent must be eligible for U.S Secret Security Clearance
Physical and/or other Specific Requirements:
- Must pass a complete physical and dental examination
- Careful consideration must be given to age and physical capability as vigorous physical exertion (daily ship visits, climbing ladders and inspecting ship equipment status under severe environmental conditions) is required
- Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
