Inventory Control Specialist
Multiple Locations: Greenville, MS; Amarillo, TX
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintains inventory at adequate supply levels based on orders, production schedules and forecasts.
- Reviews/orders/expedites inventory to satisfy stock needs and production requirements.
- Maintains supplier performance ratings, supplier relationship management and make updates to Approved Supplier List.
- Monitors and maintains inventory stock levels.
- Takes scheduled physical counts of inventory on hand, checks against daily requisitions from hangar floor.
- Responsible for accurate receiving, checking, storage and distribution of company supplies and scheduled cycle counting.
- Updates and maintains computer files/reports to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained.
- Oversees issuance of material from stores to hangar floor. Monitors creation of kits for specific customer aircraft to insure availability at least 2 weeks prior to induction of aircraft.
- Manages supplies and material flow against MRP reports, safety stocks, min/max levels or as needed to effectively support facility production requirements.
- Negotiates prices on raw materials, hardware and services for all production related purchases, as well as MRO and office supplies for all non-contract goods and services.
- Analyze the purchasing and production process with an emphasis upon continuous improvement particularly in inventory controls, MRP and production environment.
- Assuring the uninterrupted supply of critical materials daily - follow up with suppliers to insure deliveries have left on time to meet production needs.
- Transports purchases or contacts carriers to arrange transportation of purchases at discounted or best pricing.
- Evaluates overall effectiveness of inventory operations to ensure performance is consistent with budget.
- Provides forecasting support of inventory activities and maintains/updates various departmental matrixes, charts and graphs.
- Inputs data into both weekly and monthly balanced scorecards.
- Collecting and analyzing historical data, looking for trends in costs and availability.
- Responsible to issue and expedite purchase orders when necessary and properly allocated any expedite fees.
- Coordinating and driving implementation of supply chain strategies that support lean/six sigma concepts.
- Key elements to this role will be creating a dependable supply chain, achieving yearly cost reductions, developing risk management related to delivery and quality, sourcing initiatives and digitizing the procurement process.
- Manage tool room and inventory levels.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university -or- one to two years' related experience and/or training -or- equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Aviation industry experience preferably in ISO9001/AS9100 certified environment.
- Requires 2-3 years of inventory control/coordination experience, preferably in an aviation environment.
