Summary:

  • The mission of RDC is to provide technical support to the Engineering Support and Research Department (ESRD) in the acquisition and maintenance of ships and ship equipment. Involvement in acquisition matters includes providing technical assessments of the suitability of proposed systems/equipment and long-range supportability planning to ensure all elements of logistics support are adequately addressed throughout the life cycle of the system/equipment being considered. Maintenance includes repair, overhaul and modernization of RSNF ships and ship related systems/equipment. Work is conducted primarily in office with occasional visits to ships and repair yards required. The results of ROC studies are provided to those assigning tasks as reports, letters and directives.
  • As the primary augmentee assistant to the Director, the General Manager is responsible for evaluating incoming tasks to ensure that they are properly assigned and acted upon in a timely fashion. When completed, he is responsible for reviewing the final product to ensure that it is technically accurate and answers the question(s) raised.
  • As the senior augmentee, he is responsible for providing top-level administrative management/ guidance to a staff of high-specialized engineers, technicians and logistics specialists.

Education:

  • Baccalaureate degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Plus a Masters Degree in Business Administration or Logistics Management.

Experience:

  • At least twenty years of progressively responsible experience in naval ship maintenance and support is required, with at least ten years in a supervisory position.
  • Experience should include at least three years of direct supervision of a staff over 100 individuals.
  • Direct work experience should include naval shipboard assignments as either the Engineering or Supply Department Officer; Naval shipyard experience in Planning, Production, or Supply; or major staff assignment with U.S. Navy programs related to Integrated Logistics Support and Foreign Military Sales is important.
  • Experience with personal computers and common office/business software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and project management is required.
  • Eligible for U.S. Confidential Security Clearance.
