Aviation Development Manager – Third Party
PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE - To develop, oversee and manage commercial third party freight business opportunities for Inbound Aviation. - Maximize revenue for Inbound Aviation flights within Afghanistan and Africa through maximizing utilization of aircraft with third party freight. - Source, book and manage Charter Aircraft and Freight Forwarding services for internal customers to minimize costs and ensure on time delivery of vital freight to Afghanistan. - Drive new business development within the scope of Third Party freight.
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Main Internal Relationships:
Director of Operations UAE and Africa, Operations Support Manager, Inbound Aviation Finance, Aviation Development Manager, Aviation and Logistics personnel in Afghanistan, Africa and the U.A.E.
Main External Relationships:
Freight Forwarders, Aircraft providers, Warehouse logistics personnel, Military, NGO, Government and private regulatory agencies, Warehousing and Aircraft handling vendors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Aviation Development Manager - Third Party is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:
- Leads new business development relating to third party freight for the Inbound Aviation team.
- Provides recommendations to the Operations Support Manager to ensure maximum utilization of all inbound aviation flights.
- Manages relationships with third party freight customers.
- Oversees a broad range of operations to include third party freight bookings, scheduling and monitoring of additional charters, third party cargo delivery and loading, and customer liaison.
- Develops, institutes, and matures third party freight processes, programs, policies and systems to ensure currency, applicability, manageability, sustainability and relevancy.
- Liaises with cargo recipients to ensure offloading, delivery and receipt of third party freight, and relay to necessary personnel any discrepancies.
- Manages processes with internal finance personnel to accurately report third party freight charges, charter information, operational costs, etc.
- Sources aircraft based on operational requirements, aircraft performance capabilities and required delivery timelines.
- Reacts rapidly to shifting priorities while maintaining control over critical requirements.
- Ensures compliance with ICAO, US Military, NATO, UN and host nation CAA directives.
- Manages aircraft and cargo handling vendors.
- Establishes and improves internal and external customer relationships.
- Provides operational support to Operations team as needed to ensure mission success during times of low manning and or surging operations.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior managerial experience working in an operational capacity.
- Demonstrated business development experience within the Aviation industry.
- In depth understanding of Supply Chain, INCO Terms, Charter Operations and Freight Forwarding.
- Prior military experience.
- Detailed knowledge of cargo-aircraft load planning and performance capabilities.
- Previous experience with cargo tracking, monitoring and complying with dangerous goods regulations.
- Experience with invoicing and the development of financial controls, i.e., cost savings and cost comparisons.
- Ability to manage and integrate horizontally with other business units.
- Ability to make sound command decisions based on operational and financial considerations.
- Proven experience working within a multicultural environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Well developed computer skills.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Extensive experience in aviation operations.
- Extensive experience with military airlift policies and procedures in Afghanistan.
- Project Management experience.
- Extensive experience with ACMI wet and dry lease operation and development.
- Extensive knowledge of ICAO/IATA regulations.
- Experience working in an Aviation company during the start up of air carrier operations.
