Mechanical Engineer
Location: Kansas

covers all position levels for Mechanical Engineer at

Job Description:
Performs research, design, and development in such areas
as mechanical, thermal, thermodynamic, fluid flow or
heat transfer for transmission, containment,
measurement, distribution, and use of high pressure and
low pressure air. Applies research to the planning,
design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or
electro/pneumatic mechanical systems, instruments,
controls, and/or equipment.
Job Duties:
Performs research/analysis, troubleshooting, and
design/integration support of the Aircraft
Environmental Control systems to support existing design
and product upgrades
Conduct analysis related to aircraft rapid decompression
analysis
Conducts trade studies to determine feasibility of
designing new equipment or modifying existing equipment
Analyzes components and equipment to establish operating
data and conducts experimental tests
Prepares qualification, test and certification
compliance reports
Coordinates technical effort of suppliers by supporting
prototype equipment construction, qualification testing
and FAA certification
Conducts contractual engineering in conjunction with
Horizon supply chain management organization
Investigates and resolves production and field issues as
identified both through the internal quality system and
customer feedback
Required Skills:
Experience in applying technical theories,
troubleshooting techniques, and concepts related to
aircraft environmental control systems
Ability to independently perform flight test data
reduction and evaluate output resulting in clear
directions for next appropriate action
Able to independently determine and develop approaches
to solutions with only general direction
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with customers and suppliers both
internal and external
Ability to work in a team environment
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and
PowerPoint
Ability to support multiple engineering projects with
independent schedule commitments
2-4 years of related experience
Desired Skills:
CATIA proficiency
FAA Part 25 aircraft certification experience
Experience leading a project and tracking budgetary
expenses
Customer support experience
Experience in technical presentations
Required Experience and Education:
2-4 years directly related experience with a B.S.
Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or 14
years directly related experience to substitute for a
degree.
