Airline Programs Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of the Airline Programs Engineering Department.  The Manager is the overall Technical Support and provides guidance to the department and other stakeholders on all technical issues related to the division.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance on all aspects related to the job.

  • Provide limited supervision to others through motivation, reviews and feedback.

  • Assist and complement the Company Reliability Program by providing technical data to the internal monthly Reliability meetings.

  • Ensures all reports are produced for customers in a timely manner in accordance with agreed terms.

  • Establish procedures and processes for the operation of the Engineering Department in order to achieve efficiency.

  • Provide technical evaluations where necessary on customers’ requests and modification campaigns in order to decide on company's contribution with respect to cost, and approve accordingly.

  • Ensure Reliability analysis is done on all customer accounts over time in order to establish projected reliability in accordance with OEM guidelines

  • Makes decisions on Component Investigations and inform customers accordingly.  Liaise with OEM for problematic components and assist customer in achieving solutions towards improved reliability.  Coordinate meeting with OEM / customer when necessary.

  • Coordinate CIP meetings with customer on agreed terms. Review all meeting minutes and ensure action items are addressed within scope of authority.  Inform all stakeholders of meeting action items.

  • Provide technical support to the customer internally and externally when required or when requested.

  • Make recommendations for components in the pool. Establishes the pool standard taking into consideration cost for the benefit of PBH contracts.

  • Brief executive management on any impending problem that may impact on the operation and keep them informed on customer concerns or issues.

  • Develop and provide training to subordinates as required for the overall benefit of the department.  Ensure that required tools are provided within the department.

  • Ensure job cards are reviewed to verify proper documentation is attached and modifications are done in accordance with customer agreed terms.  Advise Repair Administration on missing documents and required action to be taken.

  • Assist Receiving Inspection when required and only when necessary on decisions with incoming components, complement Quality control on decisions for acceptance, or give advice as required.

  • Assist the Company overall with specific projects as required by management and provide data and technical recommendations when needed.

  • It is the responsibility of the Manager to ensure that the department maintains a good image of the Company on and off the job and to seek the best interest of the Company.

 

Experience Qualifications:

  • Previous Airline experience working as an Avionics Engineer or a Reliability Engineer a must.

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with Avionics background and/or Equivalent A & P with Avionics and/or ICAO type II Avionics Licenses, or any combination of experience and qualifications.

  • Other management qualifications would be an asset and/or experience along with previous airline training.

  • Minimum 3 years working experience in an Engineering Department for an Airline.

  • Must be able to interpret Reliability Reports and be familiar with Reliability functions.

  • Experience in aircraft maintenance and knowledge in other systems and powerplant is an asset.

  • Must be knowledgeable in aircraft components in general for Airbus family aircraft A320, A321, A319.   Knowledge and experience with ATR42/72, CRJ 700/900 and other aircraft types would be an asset.

  • Management experience and or supervisory experience necessary.

  • Must have functioned as an engineer in an Engineering department and possess knowledge on Avionic Components.
